Hair lossHair loss is a normal daily event for all adults. The life time of a strand of hair is usually about five years, then it falls out . Then why isn"t everyone bald? The difference is that for most people the hair they is naturally replaced by other stands of hair waiting to take its place. In some mens hair loss the hair that is lost is not replaced. If you are between the ages of 20-45 and beginning to see permanent hair loss then you are probable experiencing male pattern baldness.

High levels of testosterone, usually found in men, is converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by certain enzymes found in the body.Unfortunately DHT has a negative effect on hair follicles. It can shorten, weaken or completely stop hair growth by acting on the hormone receptors in the hair follicle. This seems to be, at least, some of the how and why male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) begins. Some are genetically predisposed to mens hair loss. Research has shown that this condition is sex linked.

That is to say that it is an X-linked condition. Because of this information, it seems that the maternal line passes this condition down through the generations. As it is named, there is a certain pattern to this hair loss. Although there are a few different patterns, the most common is the receding hair line (hair loss/receding at the temples) in addition to hair loss on the top or back of the head and generalized thinning. If you decide to treat male pattern baldness one of the first things you need to do is identify which category of hair loss you fall into.

This will help guide you in the direction you need to take. One thing that has been documented is that the earlier you begin treating androgenetic alopecia the better the results will be. There are a variety of ways to approach preventing and reversing hair loss. But as with most things, some time must be spent researching the right product for your situation. Options or procedures to look into regarding male pattern baldness include:

1) Medicated or drug based treatments these include DHT Inhibitors, Growth Stimulants, Antiandrogens and Anti-Inflammatories

2)Low-level laser therapy

3) Surgery

4) Hair multiplication

5) Aerobic exercise can help keep androgen levels lower than normal

6) Stress reduction, just to list a few.

Just keep in mind that what ever mens hair loss therapy you chose, especially if it drug based, it will take at least a year to see the results. Be patient, do your research and remember what you invest today will allow you to reap the benefits tomorrow.
